At the Community Church of Sebastopol, we embrace a spirit of openness, love, and acceptance for all people. As a designated Open and Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Christ, we are proud to welcome everyone—just as Jesus did—with compassion and inclusivity.
The heart of our church is best experienced in person, so we invite you to visit, connect, and discover what makes our community of faith so unique and fulfilling. Please come as you are, we don’t have a special dress code, and all are welcome.
Activities and opportunities we offer include:
- Weekly worship services, providing time, space, and guidance to ask important questions, to give thanks for all we have, and to pray.
- A connection with a diverse group of people who are exploring their own spiritual paths in a variety of ways, including classes, Bible studies, evening speaker’s programs, and retreats.
- A fun and engaging education program for children, incorporating the message and teachings of Jesus.
- A unique teen program that focuses on service and faith formation while strengthening bonds among our youth during this formative time in their lives.
- Monthly Communion on the first Sunday of each month where all are welcome to participate.
Childcare at Community Church
SUNDAY MORNINGS
Children are a vital part of our church family and are invited to participate in all aspects of church life. For the youngest members of our church family, childcare is available Sunday mornings starting at 9:45 am for children up to age 3. Childcare is also available for special after church activities.
Our nursery attendants will meet you in Room 4 of our Teaching Building (in front of fenced in playground). Nursery attendants and their helpers minister to our youngest children with song, dance, snacks, outside play and fun inside activities. As part of our Safe Church program, all our childcare workers are trained and screened. Please check in upon entering Room 4 to register your child. Childcare is available for your child in Room 4 from 9:45 am until 12:15 – giving you time to attend the adult Faith Formation and enjoy fellowship time after worship with a cup of coffee.
DURING OTHER EVENTS
Childcare is often provided for events held at the church apart from worship times. Check information for each event for notice about Childcare.

You are welcome to participate in our church whether you are a member or not for as long as you’d like. And if it’s a fit, we’d love to have you join us as a member. Here’s how you do that…
STEP 1: Attend Worship
Attend our Sunday worship and see if you would like to become an active member of the Community Church of Sebastopol.
Step 2: Attend an Inquirers’ Class
Inquirers’ Classes are held every few months. Contact the office to find out when the next orientation will be held.
Step 3: Participate in the Life of the Church
We welcome your full participation as a member in the life of our church. As members, we commit to:
- Attend Sunday services as regularly as life allows
- Deepen spiritually by participating in one church program
- Serve faithfully with the church in the wider community
- Share our financial resources so the church may thrive
- Aspire to a leadership or volunteer role
- Tell others about our church & why it means so much to us
Frequently asked questions
What if I can’t make it to the next Inquirers’ Class?
There will be another orientation in a few months, so you can attend the next one.
What if I can’t make it to the joining ceremony?
We will have you join in absentia, then introduce you on a subsequent Sunday.
Do my kids join with me?
While all baptized people, including infants, are members of the Body of Christ, local church membership is for anyone over confirmation age (14 or so). Children are invited to join us in the Inquirers’ Class if they like, and we would love for them to be with you during the joining ceremony.
What if I still have questions after the Inquirers Class?
Our pastor can be available during the week, in person or over the phone, to continue in conversation.
